The Creative Vision behind Momentum Dance Company and our direction within the dance world and society.
Jacquelyn is originally from Jackson, Tennessee. Throughout her impressive career, she was fortunate enough to train with many of the 20th Century greats, including Alexandra Danilova, Antonia Tumkovsky, and Maria & Majorie Talchief. Jacquelyn left home at the age of 16 to train at the prestigious School of American Ballet in New York City. From New York, she went on to dance with Ballet West in Salt Lake City, Pacific Northwest Ballet in Seattle and Ballet South in Memphis. She began her Texas career when she joined Dallas Ballet as the last dancer hired by George Skibine before his death. After three years with Dallas Ballet, she joined Ft. Worth Ballet as a Principal Dancer. She had the privilege of dancing in many Balanchine works such as “Serenade” and “Concerto Barocco”. She also had the opportunity to work with other well-known choreographers including Peter Anastos, John Clifford, Bruce Marks and Michael Uthoff.
Upon leaving her full time dance career, Jacquelyn began teaching and choreographing full time. She has been a guest artist around the country, including Irving Ballet. She was Irving's Principal Artist in Residence under the direction of Dale Riley. With the Irving Ballet, she danced many roles including "Dew Drop Fairy", "Snow Queen", and "Sugar Plum Fairy" in “Nutcracker”. She's also choreographed many pieces for Irving's Repertoire shows.
Jacquelyn is the owner of Forcher’s Dance Center and in December 2004 incorporated her Ballet Company, Momentum Dance Company. She is the Artistic Director, principal choreographer and also a company dancer.
Momentum holds auditions each year for company dancers, but fills positions year round. If you are interested in having a quality experience performing, be sure and contact the Artistic Director via email expressing your interest and experience.
